“We’ve got to find a way to win. We’ve got to find a way to stop shooting ourselves in the foot and find a way to get on top. “-Antrel Rolle Credit: BOBBY O’HARA/PureSportsNY

Turnovers are the difference in football games. The Giants have 5 offensive turnovers and 0 defensive. One thing the Giants players and staff want to do is reverse that stat. Antrel Rolle believes the team is killing themselves instead of helping themselves.

“You can’t give the games away. You can’t have four turnovers and then create no turnovers. That’s already putting yourself at such a huge disadvantage,”said Antrel Rolle.

Eli Manning agrees that the offense needs to limit the turnovers, but also believes that some of them happen to be a little bit of unfortunate luck.

“You’ve just got to understand you just can’t have them. I think we are doing a better job of not turning it over as often. I think some of the ones we had were just some weird plays. A tipped ball on the first one and Rashad Jennings slips, arm hits the ground and the ball pops out. It wasn’t like he got hit; he’s being conscious of it, just kind of got some bad plays. So I think we have been more conscious of it and we just have to continue to be even better.”

The offense isn’t the only side to blame. Antrel Rolle, Dominique Rodergs-Cromartie, Stevie Brown, and Prince Amukamara all come together to create what most would think is a very dangerous secondary. Lately though the Giants haven’t seen the production they need out of their defensive backs when it comes to creating turnovers. It’s something the whole team needs to improve on. Tom Coughlin says they need to be in better position to make those plays.

“Well, the point of the matter is — you’ve got to be in the right position, your eyes have got to be in the right spots, you’re either locked onto the receiver that you’re covering or you’re playing some type of zone coverage. Your eyes have to go to the right spots, you’ve got to have a good feel for it. I thought on a couple of occasions the quarterback was actually staring the ball where he was going and still we weren’t influenced enough to go in that direction and be in position to make a play,” said Coughlin.

The offense wasn’t bad against the talented Cardinals defense on Sunday. Eli passed for nearly 300 yards and two touchdowns. Its was the two interceptions and a costly fumble by Rashad Jennings that sealed the Giants fait. The Gmen must focus on the turnover game vs a rough Texans front this week.
