On Tuesday July 14th marked Major League Baseball’s 86th All-Star Game. The winner of the All-Star Game determines who gets home field advantage for the World Series, if the American League wins; the American League team that’s in the World Series would get home field advantage. The two managers representing the American League and the National League were both managers from last year’s World Series, Bruce Bochy of the San Francisco Giants, and Ned Yost of the Kansas City Royals.

Prior to the game, Major League Baseball held a ceremony for the four greatest living players Hank Aaron, Johnny Bench, Willie Mays, and Sandy Koufax. Sandy had the honors of throwing out the first pitch.

The New York Yankees had a couple of representatives for the American League. Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner, filled in for the injured Royals left fielder Alex Gordon. Yankees sent in their first baseman Mark Teixeira, and they also sent their “set up man” Dellin Betances to Cincinnati. The New York Mets sent their sophomore pitcher Jacob deGrom to the mound, he made his first career All-Star performance and had a great outing as he struck out the side.
The American League jumped out to an early (1-0) lead, as Los Angeles Angels Center Fielder Mike Trout hit an opposite field lead-off Home Run. The National League would tie the game in the bottom of the second inning on an R.B.I. single by Johnny Peralta. Rangers Designated Hitter Prince Fielder would give the American League once again, as he hit an R.B.I. single which allowed Mike Trout to score in the 5th inning giving the American League a (2-1) lead. The American League would tack on another run as Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain doubled and brought home Albert Pujols, and bought the American League  to a (3-1) lead. The National league would come back as Pirates Center Fielder Andrew McCutchen hit a Home Run, and cut the lead down to just one as the American League was leading (3-2). In the seventh inning Baltimore’s third baseman Manny Machado  gave the American league some insurance runs as he hit an R.B.I. double, followed by a Sac-Fly by Prince Fielder that put the American League in the (5-2) lead. In the eighth inning Twins Brian Dozier would put the game out of reach with a Home-Run of his own, the American League leads (6-2).

The National League would add another run in the Bottom of the ninth with a Sac-Fly by Giants Brandon Crawford. The American League would win the game with a final score of (6-3). For the second straight year in a row, Los Angeles Angels Center Fielder Mike Trout wins the 2015 American League All-Star Game M.V.P.
