The Yankees picked up a game on the Boston Red Sox this weekend and currently sit just two and a half games back of the division lead. The Yanks split a four game set with the Rays thanks to some timely hitting, especially from 24-year-old rookie Zoilo Almonte, who went 7-12 with a home run.

The Bombers will hope to keep playing good ball as the Texas Rangers come into the Bronx for a three game set. The Rangers are battling with the Oakland Athletics for the American League West crown and currently sit a game ahead of the A’s.

Next the Yankees will have to head down to Baltimore for a huge three game set against Buck Showalter’s O’s who are currently a half game ahead of the Yankees’ and just two games behind Boston. Since Showalter’s arrival these teams have had many heated contests including an epic five game playoff series last October.
