I hope everyone is enjoying a peaceful Memorial Day weekend as the action between New York City’s professional baseball teams is about to heat up. The Yankees and Mets will face off in four games this weekend, in the first split four game series between these two teams.

Because of the new balanced schedule that calls for interleague play to happen all year, the Mets and Yankees will play two games at Citi Field, followed by two more at Yankee Stadium. The Mets come in losing two out of three to the Braves by picking up a big win on Sunday to avoid the sweep. The Yankees were rare winners at Tropicana Field, taking two out of three despite losing Sunday behind a poor effort from CC Sabathia.

The pitching matchups this week are intriguing and should give us a subway series to remember. The game to look forward to is definitely Tuesday’s affair which faces Mets phenom Matt Harvey versus the Yankees most consistent pitcher Hiroki Kuroda. Here are the matchups with season stats.

Monday, 7 pm: Phil Hughes (2-3 5.51 ERA) vs. Jonathan Niese (3-5 4.80 ERA)

Tuesday, 7 pm: Hiroki Kuroda (6-3 2.67 ERA) vs. Matt Harvey (5-0 1.93 ERA)

Wednesday, 7 pm: David Phelps (3-2 3.96 ERA) vs. Jeremy Hefner (0-5 4.76 ERA)

Thursday, 7 pm: Vidal Nuno (1-1 1.93 ERA) vs. Dillon Gee (2-6 6.34 ERA)
