East Rutherford NJ: NY Jets are hosting their divisional rival Miami Dolphins. Currently the Jets are 3 and 1 in the division. As usual the Jets started out slow on the offensive side of the ball.
The offense would continue to spiral south for the Jets as the Dolphins blocked a punt on the Jets 20-yard line. Oilivier Vernon returned the blocked punt for touchdown putting the Dolphins up 10-0 with 3:59 left in the 1st quarter. On the Jets next possession, Marc Sanchez was sacked causing a fumble recovered by Jared Odrick at the Jets 32-yard line.
The Dolphins would drive the ball down the field on six plays ending in a 3-yard touchdown run by Daniel Thomas. The Dolphins led 17-to-0 with 14:03 left in the second quarter. The Jets could not get anything going offensively in the first half. The Dolphins would add a field goal right before the half, extending their lead to 20-to-0 at halftime.
It was more of the same in the third quarter as the Jets’ offense continued to struggle. Finally the Jets would get a little life with a 23-yard field goal. But Miami answered right back with an eight play 70 yard touchdown, putting Miami up 27 to 3 with 8:34 left in the third quarter.
There seemed to be a lack of urgency from the Jets throughout the entire game. They struggled in all aspects of the game: Offense, Defense and Special Teams. Another embarrassing loss to their divisional rival Miami Dolphins with a final score 30-to-9.
