After losing 10 of the last 12 games, the Yankees came out on Memorial day swinging. The Yankees weren’t playing around with the Kansas City Royals winning by a final score of (14-1).

Yankees scored eight runs in the first inning,all eight run were home runs.

Chase Headley got the ball rolling first as he hit a two-run home run, this marked his sixth of the year. Yankees catcher Brian McCann went yard, his fifth of the year. Brett Gardner joined the party in the first inning as he went yard for his fourth of the year.

They kept the power going in the second inning as well, Stephen Drew added to the scoreboard with a homer of his own which marked his fifth of the year.

The Yankee bats went quiet for three innings until the bottom of the fifth when Chase Headley hit an R.B.I double. It was an even better day for Yankees rookie outfielder Slade Heathcott as he hit his first professional home run which came in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Yankees sent out Nathan Eovaldi and he received plenty of run support. Eovaldi went seven innings. In his outing he allowed eight hits, one run, struck out four batters; and walked one batter.

The Yankees brought in Jacob Lindgren, this marked his major league debut. Lindgren went two innings he struck out two batters, walked two batters, and didn’t allow a hit. With this victory for Eovaldi he is now (4-1) with an ERA of (4.27).

Tomorrow the Yankees will send out Adam Warren. Warren is (2-3) with an ERA of (4.26). He will be opposed by Jason Vargas. Vargas is (3-1) with an ERA of (5.26). With this victory the Yankees are now one game out of first place in the American League East as they trail the Tampa Bay Rays.
