Giants rookie WR Odell Beckham Jr. says he is feeling better lately and is anxious to get back on the field after the Giants spent a first round pick on him back in May. The receiver out of LSU sustained a hamstring injury early on in training camp and hit a setback when trying to return near the end of that month. He has been slowly doing everything he can with the help of the Giants trainers and staff to finally get the chance to prove himself in the NFL.

“I definitely feel a lot better; a lot better than I had been. I feel as good as I’ve ever felt right now,” said Beckham.

It’s a good sign that he feeling progress as the Giants will need him at 100 percent when he returns. Lately the Giants could use a weapon like Beckham can bring then on game days. He is that explosive type of wideout that New York has been waiting for that can help them stretch the field and open up the window on the tight slants on important downs. Beckham has been out early on game day for warmups, but no game action and this week it seems like it will be just that way again. At least that’s how Tom Coughlin feels.

“I think that there is improvement in Odell and there has been every week. I don’t believe he is there. We are trying to be as patient as we can with the idea being that when we get him back, we are going to have him.”

There have been rumblings that the Giants are hoping to aim for the Falcons game as a return for Beckham, but that is still up in the air for now.

When Beckham was asked about that as a possibility he said, “That’s the goal, but like I said, that’s up to them. Just staying patient, keep doing what I’m supposed to do and get better each day.”

It’s a tough injury to deal with as an athlete as it lingers and there isn’t much you can do, but you when he does return the Giants can feel better that they will hopefully have him back for good. Beckham on the other hand says “it has been driving me crazy” and making him anxious to get out there for real.

“It’s been unfortunate but it’s not something that you can just hang your head on and not get past. You’ve got to get past it. There will be brighter days in the future,” he later stated.

Beckham did practice with the team Tuesday and Eli Manning does see some signs pointing in the right direction for number 13.

“Odell looked good. He’s definitely got some quickness to him and some burst, so it’s good to see him running.”

Although New York would love to see him return vs their division rival Washington Redskins on Thursday, they’ll just have to remember that good things come to those who wait.
