Nets Outlast Bucks in Triple Overtime Thriller

Still knocking on post season door

BROOKLYN – The Brooklyn Nets had to overcome quite a bit to win this 3 overtime Playoff like game against the Milwaukee Bucks at the Barclay.  In the thriller, Brook Lopez had 32 points and 18 rebounds to pace the Nets to the 129-127 victory.  Coach Hollins said, “We had to overcome Milwaukee’s 38 offensive rebounds, 18 by Zaza Pachulia to hang on.”

This win was needed as the Nets schedule doesn’t get any easier in their hunt for a Playoff spot.  Thaddeus Young scored 24 points and Joe Johnson had 20 for the Nets (including a huge 3 in overtime two), who stopped a four-game home losing streak.  The Nets are now a game and a half out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.

The Bucks dropped their 10th straight road game.  They haven’t won since February 2nd in Toronto.  This loss also extends their losing streak to five games.  They’re also 4-12 since the Brandon Knight and Michael Carter Williams trade.  Coach Jason Kidd however defended that trade before the game as a deal that was for the future and not just six months from now.

Khris Middleton finished with 29 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Milwaukee.  Giannis Antetokounmpo had 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Ersan Ilyasova added 20 points and 13 boards, but both were disqualified with six fouls in the second overtime.

This was a night where the high priced Deron Williams sat and watched in crunch time as Hollins said when asked, “There was nothing wrong with Deron, I just went with who I went with.”

Tonight’s game is also the second triple overtime game against the same opponent this season.  Never has this happened before with the same team. Seems as if Kidd and Nets just can’t stay away from one another.
