Toronto Steals Game 2 (Written by Bobby O’Hara)

The Toronto Raptors beat the Brooklyn Nets 100-95 to even the series to one game a piece. The Nets looked strong starting off the game 8-1, but quickly after Paul Pierce picked up 2 quick fouls and headed to the bench, the game changed. Brooklyn went cold and allowed Toronto to go on a 20-6 run. After that the Nets got a much needed boost from Mirza Teletovic who hit a few big threes as the Nets fought back to a Halftime score of 45-39.

After the half Brooklyn came out big with a 8-2 run and outscored Toronto 27-19 in the third as the rode their second unit till about the 7 minute mark in the 4th.

Lead by DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry the Raptors took a win away from Brooklyn late in the fourth quarter. With DeRozan scoring 17 4th quarter points the Nets had no answer for Toronto as Paul Pierce wasn’t so clutch in this game like he was the last. Pierce was 0-6 from behind the arc and 2-11 total. Deron Williams made a late 3 to keep the game interesting, but the game was too far out of reach at that point as Toronto got away with the win.

The Raptors played a solid game and seemed to match Brooklyn’s aggressive style of play from game one, however they were lucky to escape with a win in yet another game with 20 turnovers. Their rebounding and the Nets poor field goal percentage gave them an edge in this one. Brooklyn was out rebounded 52- 30 and allowed the Raptors to scored many second chance points.

Joe Johnson scored 18 points, Deron Williams had 15 and Mirza Teletovic 14 had for the Nets who are looking to regain control of the series on Friday night in Brooklyn.

Nets positives:

  1. Andrei Kirilenko played well creating a few big plays for Brooklyn.
  2. Mason Plumlee continues to become a solid defensive player.
  3. Although shooting 44% from the field Brooklyn was creating a ton of good looks on offense by spreading the ball.

Nets Negatives:

  1. Continue to deal with foul trouble.
  2. Out rebounded 52-30
  3. Poor free throw pct.
