April 12, 2015: Although the Metropolitans lost the series to the Atlanta Braves todays win proved that the Mets of 2015 are not the Mets of 2014 in no way shape or form. Why you might ask yourself the answer is resiliency. Last year the Mets were 4-15 last year facing the Nationals in what was a dismal season against their division rivals. But this year they won the first series which was a positive outlook as this season moves along. Although they lost their second series to the Braves they showed that they can go toe to toe with them. Both losses were doomed by mental errors in the field.

The captain yes that’s right David wright’s blunder in the 8th in Friday’s game is what doomed the Mets. After trailing 3-0 early that game David wright hit a 2-run bomb to left field off of Montero followed by Mayberry’s bomb for back to back homeruns to tie it at 3-3 in the 4th inning showing that these NYM have heart and will never count themselves out. Saturday’s four run fifth inning overlooked a brilliant effort by Dillon Gee who was scheduled to go to the bullpen this season until the misfortunate news of Zach Wheelers (UCL) injury. It is hard to transition in any job in a short notice but Gee embraced it and will hopefully have a strong year in 2015.

Another win from this weekend series was 41 year old Bartolo Colon yes that’s right 41 years young Bartolo Colon not only did he win but he also picked up his first RBI in 10 years. One more food for thought Bartolo’s opening day win along with his 8 strikeouts according to Elias was only done by two other individuals, their names are Nolan Ryan and a legend by the name of Cy Young all the way back in (1908) who the award for best pitcher is named after. If that is not good company I don’t know what is. So as you see although the Mets head home for their season opener at 3-3 there is a lot of good to rave about. The teams that play in October usually have a .500 record on the road so if the Mets can play .500 on the road and dominate at home there is a good chance that this 8 year playoff drought can come to an end and Citi Field can finally host a playoff game LETS GO METS.
