LeVert’s Floater Wins Against The Nuggets

Friday night the Brooklyn Nets went up against the 9-2 Denver Nuggets, who have been off to a terrific start of the season. The Nets started the game offensively aware; hitting 7 3-pointers in the first quarter, which is the most they’ve done in any first quarter this season. They also moved the ball extremely well, which is something coach Kenny Atkinson stresses; the Nets dished out 11 assists in the first quarter closing out the 1st 34-24. While Nikola Jokic of the Nuggets led the way with 20 points and 12 rebounds, the Nets were unstoppable in the first half, as D’Angelo Russell led the Nets with 12 points and 5 assists of his own.

The Nets would continue to play well on both ends of the court; going on an 11-2 run late in the 3rd quarter. Due to foul trouble, Jokic looked on from the bench as Spencer Dinwiddie drains a half court buzzer beater giving the Nets a 6 point lead. That energy would continue as the Nets and Nuggets battle down to the wire in the 4th quarter. Jarrett Allen ties up the game 110-110 with a dunk. As the Nuggets were in possession of the ball Jokic would commit his 6th turnover with 22.1 left on the clock. Caris LeVert would make sure this game ended in a Brooklyn win. With 6 seconds on the clock LeVert makes his way inside and hits a floater to lift the Nets past the Nuggets 112-110.

With this win The Nets take their first 3 game win streak of the season.

  • The Nets continue to show consistency from 3.  They knocked down 12 treys against the Nuggets 5.
  • Jarrett Allen delivered 5 blocks against the Nuggets. He continues to prove himself as a young defensive force down low.
  • DeMarre Carroll made his season debut, finishing with 9 points in 14 minutes, and grabbed 2 boards.
  • Shabazz Napier didn’t make it into the rotation against the Nuggets. While he has shown promise in his past minutes, it’ll be tough making it into the lineup with both Russell and Dinwiddie playing as well as they are and Carroll back on the roster. He is also seen as a matchup nightmare on the boards.
  • Allen Crabbe has been struggling finding his shot; however he continues to stay scrappy on the floor.
  • D’Angelo Russell has looked much more confident and comfortable in his role.
  • Caris LeVert continues to lead the pack, playing like an all star. The Nets guard is averaging 20 points 4 assists and 4 rebounds so far this season.

The Nets are now 2-0 on their road trip. Entering a back to back game Saturday night they take on the Golden State Warriors.
