November 13, 2014, Queens, NY  They led most of the game, but disastrous shooting in the fourth quarter resulted in the Knicks losing their fourth game at home (in five games) to the Cleveland Cavaliers, 90-84. The Cavaliers are a blistering 8-1, and the Knicks fell to 4-6.

Lebron James led all scorers with 31 points to go with 6 assists. Mo Williams, who has been teamed with Lebron again, scored 20 points. Kevin Love added 7 points to go with 11 rebounds. For the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony was on fire in the first 24 minutes of play scoring 22 of his 26 points in the first half. Anthony guarded Lebron for a significant amount of time and became obviously fatigued.  He only managed to score 4 points in the second half, none in the third quarter.  Arron Affalo added 14 points, and Kristaps Porzingis scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.

The Garden was at near capacity as per usual when Lebron comes to town. He is must-see since he’s entering the latter stage of his career. The NBA has effectively marketed its stars, thanks to the genius of former NBA commissioner, David Stern. There are no shortage of must-see ballers including Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Blake Griffin, Anthony Davis, Kobe Bryant (despite being in the twilight of his career), Chris Paul, et al.

Lebron played an uncharacteristically high number of minutes, 39. But he seems to get a charge out of going against Carmelo Anthony. They have been playing with and against each other since their teens. They are now grown men in their 30s, but their competitive juices flow when they match up.

The Knicks next game is against the Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans this Sunday at Madison Square Garden. It’s a matinee game that begins at noon. Tickets are still available. The game will be televised on the MSG Network.
