March 20, 2015, Queens, NY  The New York Knicks (14-54) face the Philadelphia 76ers (16-52) tonight at 7:00 (EST) in a strange game where losing is incentivized.  The loser is a winner.  Yes, I know this is an oxymoron; however, being on the opposite end of winning has its advantages, namely draft position that is dictated by ping-pong balls.

The two aforementioned teams and the Minnesota Timberwolves (15-53) have 14 games left apiece.  The Los Angeles Lakers (17-50), who are also looking to get good by being bad,  have 15 games left and hold a 3 ½ game lead over the Knicks.

While there are no guarantees, futility increases your chances of landing the first overall pick in the draft.  Tonight’s game in Philadelphia is a meaningful game.  If the Knicks lose, as many would expect since they have the worst “away” record at 5-30, they would still have a slim one-game lead (in terms of having the worst record) over the Timberwolves provided the Timberwolves lost their next game.

The game will be aired on the MSG network.  Check your local listings.
