The Knicks went into Philadelphia coming off a big win Thursday night against the Miami Heat. Despite still awaiting the return of a few key players for the Knicks, they came in and beat the 76ers, 102-92. The win Saturday night against the 76ers extended their winning streak to four straight improving the Knicks record to 14-22.

In a game where the Knicks would be without Tyson Chandler for the third straight game, the Knicks would need someone to step up in his absence. Amar’e Stoudemire continued his great play by scoring a game high 21 points to go along with five rebounds off the bench. Carmelo Anthony would also add 18 points, 7 assists, and 9 rebounds to help New York down the 76ers.

Despite coming in with a three game winning streak, it was a long interesting week for JR Smith. After being fined by the NBA for his shoe-untying incident against the Mavericks, Smith was then benched without playing a single minute versus Miami. After giving up 28 first quarter points to the 76ers, Coach Mike Woodson put Smith in the game to start the second quarter where he was impressive. The Knicks would outscore the 76ers 32-12 in the second quarter, as Smith would have 11 of those points.

In their fourth straight win the Knicks took the lead in the second quarter and never looked back. New York would be impressive on both sides of the ball scoring 32 points in both the second and third quarter. Coach Woodson called it a total team effort, as they would hold the 76ers to 92 points after letting up 28 points in the first quarter.

For the 76ers, Spencer Hawes and James Anderson lead the team with 17 points each. Thaddeus Young would add 15 points as the 76ers lost their fourth straight game. Late in the fourth, Philly would make a push to cut the lead to eight before Carmelo Anthony hit a three-point dagger to put the Knicks back up 11 and end any hope for the 76ers.

Next the Knicks, will face the Suns and the Bobcats back to back Monday and Tuesday. After that the Knicks will have a tough three straight games against the Pacers, Clippers, and Nets. Time will tell if New York will be able to turn the season around after the 3-13 start.
