As the New york Knicks hold training camp in Greenburgh, New York, one thing remains clear; just win and only worry about what you can control. As the Knicks, Nets rivalry is interring, both teams must be contenders in order to see who claims ‘New York’. The Knicks have been taking the right steps with hard work, focus, determination and coaching. Mike Woodson has proven his leadership and changed the culture of the Knicks organization, and in return James Dolan and picked up his option. His key players such as Metta World Peace, Tyson Chandler and Carmelo Anthony have taken suit behind him.

As the Amar’e Stoudemire situation looms over them, the Knicks have been determined to trout out their best line-up, regardless of their contract situation. New addition, Metta World Peace has been very instrumental in this process, working with young players on the side such as rookie CJ Leslie. Knicks first round pick, Tim Hardaway Jr. has also been benefiting from the veterans. Hardaway Jr. touched upon his first week of camp, and how the veterans are helping him further along his potential. As he crosses over to the other side of the Knicks, Heat rivalry, he seems determined to make an impact on his team. With JR Smith suspended for the first 5 games of the season, Hardaway Jr. will be called upon right from the start.

Kenyon Martin also spoke about how coach Woodson will try and limit his minutes this season. Woodson believes he over used him last year, which led to some of his injuries. Needless to say, Martin was not happy about this, but told reporters he will be ready whenever his number is called.

This is a critical season for the Knicks, as Carmelo Anthony can opt out of his contract at the end of the year. As the Nets might hold all of the off-season head lines; there is a reason the games are played. New York City is still the home of the Knicks, and Carmelo is the face of the franchise. Until otherwise, look for Melo and company to challenge to win back-to-back Atlantic Division titles. Regardless if they win their division, the Knicks season will be judged upon their success in the playoffs. With a loaded Eastern Conference, the Knicks still can compete with anyone. Check in all season long for breakdowns and analysis; as the Knicks should be right in the thick of things.
