Ridley now joins the Jets backfield that includes Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell. Ridley tore his ACL and MCL in a week 6 game vs Buffalo and didn’t return for the team’s championship run during his last season with the Patriots. He is a good in between the tackles type of runner, but has become susceptible to fumbling issues recently.

Ridley’s a former 1,200-yard, 12-TD rusher that the Jets are willing to give a shot at a one year “prove it” contract. The running back also visited with the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins before signing with the Jets on Wednesday. Many could question why Ridley saw the best opportunity to prove himself with the Jets considering he is a lot like Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell isn’t too bad himself. So why wouldn’t Ridley go to a team like Miami who could instantly make him the second running back in the rotation?

Ridley wants the chance to work with Chan Gailey. Gailey was a main contributor to CJ Spiller’s best season back in Buffalo. With this move Ridley stays in the division and will work with Gailey in hopes of renewing his career.
