Giants fans know the name DeSean Jackson very well. The same man that was behind “The Miracle in the Meadowlands” after returning a punt 65 yards for a score as time expired, giving the Eagles the heartbreaking win over the Giants about 4 years ago just doesn’t go away. That was in 2010, now it’s 2014 and Desean Jackson is a Washington Redskin. The former Eagle found a way to stay in the division this offseason by signing with the Redskins after shockingly being released by the Eagles. The speedy receiver has been a Giant killer for years now. Last year in two games Jackson torched the Giants secondary for 15 catches, 195 yards and one touchdown, but this year the Giants may have an answer.

In comes Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, a guy that says the two know each other really well.

“He is a good friend of mine. We do a lot of things during the offseason. I definitely know him and he knows me. That is definitely going to be a good matchup.”

As for dealing with the headache that Jackson is, Rodgers-Cromartie is known for running with his receiver well and Jackson said earlier this week that he believes that Cromartie is one of the few corners that can keep up with him.

“That is really good because when I see him on film flying around like that, it means he thinks I can fly around, too,” said Rodgers-Cromartie.

Jackson has more catches against the Giants than any other team in his career, but that isn’t all. Most of his catches are deep passes downfield that become touchdown passes or lead to touchdowns. Either way its not a good thing and with Kirk Cousins deep ball becoming more and more accurate lately, Rodgers-Cromartie knows the importance of keeping a close watch on #11 come game time.

“Especially if Cousins can break down in the pocket and buy extra time. Now you have to turn around and try to find [Jackson] and he is already gone. He is definitely a guy you have to watch for the deep ball, he can take a screen to the house and he can do it all. He is definitely someone to watch on the field.”

With the two being so close Dominique was asked one last question. Who wins most of the one on one battles in practice.

“It goes both ways. I had my days and he had his days. There is definitely going to be some competition and a lot of talking going on.”

Jackson is coming off of a game in which he posted 5 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown vs his old team. He is questionable for Thursday, but then again he was also questionable last week. You can bet New York will be planning for him and counting on their newly assembled secondary to do better than the past this time.
