October 25, 2015, Queens, NY  The New York Giants beat their division rival, the Dallas Cowboys, 27-20, in a game that shouldn’t have been that close because of the God-awful play by Cowboys quarterback Matt Cassel. Cassel threw three interceptions that all but sealed the game, but with less than a minute and a half left, the Cowboys were only seven points behind.

And then, Cowboys punt returner Cole Beasley muffed up. Beasley fumbled a punt that was recovered by the Giants which ended the game for all intents and purposes. But to put the loss on Beasley would be unfair and just plain wrong.

Dwayne Harris: The Big Payback

Dwayne Harris, the former Cowboy, was clearly on a mission to show his former team that they made a mistake in not retaining him. With the scored tied 20-20, Harris ran back the kickoff for 100 yards to give the Giants the lead again, 27-20. Harris also caught two passes for 43 yards. Odelll Beckham Jr. was targeted a mere six times, catching four balls for 35 yards. If the Giants are to be successful, they will have to target Beckham more often. Beckham has been nursing an injury, and that may be the reason for Eli Manning throwing to Beckham infrequently. Manning was 13/24, 170 yards, no touchdowns or interceptions.

Shane Vereen carried the ball only four times but amassed 56 yards; that’s 14 yards per carry. Orleans Darkwa carried the ball twice as many times (8) for 48 yards. Rueben Randle had two pass catches for 68 yards. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie had two interceptions, one a pick six, and Brandon Meriweather added a pick.

Win #100
Win #100

Tom Coughlin wins his 100th game as Giants head coach. Couglin has been on and off the hotseat despite his winning two Super Bowls with improbable teams. After an 0-2 start, the Giants won three consecutive games, and then relapsed last week. Today, they did not play a great game, and to be honest, the Cowboys lost it more than the Giants won it. However, it goes down in the win column, and the Giants will take it.

Next week, the Giants take on the New Orleans Saints who won earlier today. Hopefully, the Giants will be more opportunistic if they are afforded many turnovers. And as important, Beckham should be integrated into the offensive passing scheme.

The Giants had the keys to the Cassel. Matt Cassel. And find themselves atop the NFC East.
