Game 4 of the Mets-Cardinals series took place Thursday night at Citi Field. Bartolo Colon was on the mound for the Mets, opposing him was Lance Lynn of the Cardinals.

Bartolo Colon and Lance Lynn started off the game with a nice little pitching duel as both teams remained scoreless into the 5th inning.

Top of the 5th, St. Louis gets on the board first behind a Tony Cruz double to deep left center that scored Kolten Wong. Cardinals take a 1-0 lead.

Bottom of the 5th, the Metropolitans answer right back, as Chris Young leads off with a home run to left that travels 411 feet. Game tied up at 1 run a piece.

In the bottom of the 6th the Mets would add on another run with a Daniel Murphy RBI double to center field which scored Eric Young Jr. to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.

Bottom of the 7th, the Mets would add on another couple of insurance runs for good measure. The first coming on a Curtis Granderson RBI single to shallow  right center that scored Anthony Recker. Granderson was thrown out at second trying to advance on the play. Mets lead 3-1. The 4th and final run would come on a Daniel Murphy single to left, Eric Young Jr. would come across to score another run. That would give the Mets a 4-1 lead that they would not relinquish.

Daisuke Matsuzaka came on in the top of the 9th and pitched a 1-2-3 inning to get the first save of his career. The Mets closer position is a revolving door. Dice-K is sure to make things interesting if he is going to get regular work in that role from here on out.

Mets improve to 12-10. Next on the schedule for the first time this season are the division rival Miami Marlins. Game 1 of the Mets-Marlins series at Citi Field takes place Friday night at 7:10 pm. Zack Wheeler vs. Henderson Alvarez.
