EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ- The New York Giants will look to gain back the lead in the NFC East this week as they head down to South Florida to take on the AFC East’s Miami Dolphins. Both teams have been disappointing this season, but somehow the Giants have a chance to win the division only being 5-7. With the Eagles and Redskins quietly creeping their way up the ladder the past few weeks as the Giants have found it hard to gain traction after a close loss to the New England Patriots a few weeks back.

This week they face a team with more similarities to themselves than many think, just different situations. Both teams own a 5-7 record and have both struggled to get the most out of their offenses. The only difference is that Miami is trapped in a division with the New England Patriots and possible playoff bound Jets, both who the Giants have suffered losses to, and the New York Giants have a wide open opportunity for the division due to a weak division.

LandrybeckhamAnother similarity for these two teams happens to be that back in 2014 both teams took a WR from LSU. The Giants took Odell Beckham Jr. in the first round and the Dolphins took Jarvis Landry in the second round. 51 picks apart and only 7 receptions apart from owning the NFL record for most receptions in the first two seasons in the NFL. Beckham broke the record Sunday vs the Jets with 169 while quietly his best friend, Landry has 162.

Both receivers have been known to make outstanding catches. Odell Beckham more popular in the media after his one handed catch vs the Dallas Cowboys says Landry hasn’t gone under the radar for him.

“We had our fair share of crazy catches,” Beckham said. “I mean, he had two one-hand catches back-to-back years against Arkansas, two ridiculous catches. In practice, I mean, words really don’t do it justice. I can’t even sit here and try to give you a good enough picture. It’s something that you just have to see, the things he was doing as far as being able to catch the ball.”

In fact the two say they had a “freak” catch tape in which Jarvis doesn’t even own. On it has every catch they ever made. Man wouldn’t everyone want that copy!

The two have a brother-like relationship and train together in the offseason. Yes, they always take time to practice those ridiculous one-handed grabs. Although on the field the two wear different jersey’s when together they look like they could be twins.

The two always are wishing the best out of each other and say they even have something up their sleeve when it comes to putting on a pregame show?

“We’re thinking about it,” Landry said. “We’re thinking about it. We’ll get together earlier that day before the pregame and we’ll put something together.”

Although many may see this game as a 5-7 team going up against a 5-7 team this could be one for the ages especially if there’s any LSU fans out there.
