Circus Comes to Brooklyn, Nets Hit the Road

Brooklyn Nets: As the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus comes to Barclay’s Center, the Brooklyn Nets begin an eight game road trip over the next two weeks. This could be a season changing trip, the kind that teams like the Lakers and Spurs have used to come together in past seasons.

The schedule for the trip is as follows:
Monday, March 18th @ Detroit Pistons
Wednesday, March 20th @ Dallas Mavericks
Saturday, March 23 @ Los Angeles Clippers
Sunday, March 24th @ Phoenix Suns
Wednesday, March 27th @ Portland Trail Blazers
Friday, March 29th @ Denver Nuggets
Saturday, March 30th @ Utah Jazz
Wednesday, April 3rd @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Going game by game, I would say that the Nets will get the win tonight against Detroit, especially coming off a disappointing result Sunday night against the Hawks. Moving to Wednesday and a tough matchup against a veteran Mavs team, I see the Nets pulling this one out as well. They were beaten in Brooklyn last time they faced Dallas and will absolutely show up this time around.

Heading into the weekend the Nets face a real test at the Staples Center where they face off against the Clippers. The Clippers are miles ahead of where they were when these teams met in Brooklyn. I expect the Clippers to really push the pace against the Nets, and to take home the victory. However the Nets will rebound on Sunday evening with a victory when they face a Suns team that has little to play for.

The Nets next play on Wednesday against Portland, a team with some serious young talent. However they have had long stretches of defensive lapses, so I expect the Nets to take advantage and impose their will in the paint on their way to a victory. After a day off the Nets will play the Nuggets, a team that the Nets handled in their meeting in Brooklyn. This time around I expect the Nuggets to play a crisper all around game en route to running the Nets out of the Pepsi Center.

The next night the Nets play in Utah, a team that beat them by two in Brooklyn. The Jazz typically have a huge home court advantage and as they continue to fight for a playoff spot in the west, I think that they will get a somewhat surprising victory against the Nets. Finally the road trip ends in Cleveland where the Nets will look to end the road trip on a positive note. With Kyrie Irving likely still out for the Cavs, I don’t expect too much trouble for the Nets to pull out a victory.

This would put the Nets at 5-3 on their road trip, a record that would likely keep them where they are in the East Playoff standings, but just a couple of surprising victories and the Nets could be leading the Atlantic Division by the time they return home to Brooklyn.
