The Angels came to town for game one of their series with the New York Yankees.  On the hill for the game was Hiroki Kuroda and C.J. Wilson.  A game in which two good starting pitchers would take the hill was anything, but a pitchers duel.

The trouble didn’t take long to begin as Ian Stewart and Eric Aybar led off the second inning with singles. Hank Conger drove in the first run with a line drive double to right field moving Aybar to third 1-0 Angels.  Next at bat, Cowgill layed down a bunt for the sacrifice driving in Aybar and run number 2.  J.B. Shuck was up next and would drive in a run himself with a groundout to short to end the scoring parade.

Later in the game Kuroda’s struggles continued with two home runs given up, one to Stewart in the 3rd inning, another to the hot bat of Albert Pujols.  Pujols’s homer would knock Kuroda out of the game and bring the the Yankees Bruce Billings.  Billings didn’t  do much better against the strong Angels lineup giving up 4 runs over 4 inning.

Up next the Yankees Take on the Angels for game two of the series in the Bronx.  Hopefully the Yankee bats come alive and provide more than 1 run for support.
