The first half was such a shock that it seemed evident that Cincinnati had no fear of Syracuse whatsoever. However, their strong three point play in the first half did not carry on into the second half as they went 0-7, allowing Syracuse to make a run themselves and they did, coming within 5 after a Dion Waiters three pointer.
With the score at 53-58 Syracuse was very much in the game. In the very precious minutes of the second half, Syracuse forward Brandon Triche missed two critical free throws and Cincinnati increased their lead to 10.
With less than a minute and Syracuse down by 10, the Garden crowd was completely silenced but the Orange were not going down without a fight.
Scoop Jardine hit a big three and Syracuse was only down 5. Some plays later Kris Joseph connected on a three and the deficit was now 4. The Garden crowd heaved a huge sigh of relief as Dion Waiters three pulled Syracuse within 2.
In the end, Cincinnati had Syracuse’s number from the start of the game and the ball bounced their way and they will be playing in the Big East Final tomorrow night against #7 Louisville.
