MANHATTAN, New York The Liberty came into last night’s game prepared to take the win. “We knew going into the game that we had a size advantage,” says Head Coach Bill Laimbeer. With 51 rebounds on the night, the Liberty took advantage of the height thatSwin Cash they had inside. Tina Charles came in big with a double- double, 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Kiah Stokes added 11 rebounds to the stats.

The Liberty had a strong first quarter, starting the game of with a 6-0 run against the Mercury. Candice Dupree finishing the game with 12 points stopped the Mercury’s scoreless run with five minutes left in the first. Mercury forward, DeWanna Bonner finished with 22 points and 6 rebounds.

Only allowing the Mercury to score two points in the first 3 minutes of the third the Liberty added 8 points to the scoreboard. The crowd showed their presence when the Liberty obtained four back-to-back offensive boards, the atmosphere in the Garden was exuberant. Keeping a lead the entire game, the Liberty only tied with the Mercury 3 times throughout the game. The Liberty took their biggest lead in the fourth quarter, making the score 68-57 with the last seconds ticking down.
