“Another tense game, down to the wire. I thought our guys played extremely well down the stretch. You know they got the lead. They hit five threes in the third; then they hit their first two threes to start the fourth and we had to weather that storm. We wound up  finally getting under control and taking the lead and it was kind of tit for tat after that. But we had just big plays throughout that stretch, and down the end when they needed a three, we did all we were supposed to do, and they didn’t get the shot off,” said Net coach Lionel Hollins during the post-game presser.

The Nets had a strong first quarter going up 25-20 and led by halftime 51-42. The third quarter became their undoing as they gave up 31 points. At one point, the Suns went on a 15-0 run. Headed into the fourth quarter, the Nets found themselves down three, 73-70. The Nets applied defensive intensity in the fourth that stifled the Suns who scored only 18 points in the final quarter.

Next up for the Nets is game across the Bridges (Brooklyn or Manhattan–take your pick) to face the New York Knicks. The game promises to be as intense as the NFL match-up this Sunday between the New York Jets and New York Giants. The Nets-Knicks game will be aired on the YES Network, MSG, and ESPN simultaneously.
