Spring Training

The football season has come and gone. As we bid farewell to the gridiron, we excitingly open our arms to the baseball diamond. Spring Training is finally here, as pitchers and catchers report to Florida. The New York Yankees reported to camp today in Tampa, while the New York Mets reported yesterday in Port. St Lucie. The Yankees are looking to bounce back from a disappointing end to the season. Even though they made it to the post season, they were swept out by the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS. In Queens, the Mets were looking to form a new identity as they started to rebuild the franchise. The first half of the season had Mets fans galvanized, but the second half was just awful. There were some personal highlights as Johan Santana became the first Met to throw a no-hitter. R.A. Dickey became the first Met since Dwight Gooden to win the Cy Young. Both teams will have a fresh start and anything is possible going into a new year of baseball. Stay tuned to PureSportsNY, as we will be covering both New York teams. Next week, we will take a look at the Mets off-season and preview their spring training camp.
