The Siena College Saints have an overall record of 10-6 and 3-2 in conference play with a RPI of 83. The Rating Percentage Index, commonly known as the RPI, is a quantity used to rank college basketball team’s wins and losses and its strength of schedule.

Siena has faced four opponents currently ranked in the Top 100 of the RPI. The Saints lost their season opener to Duke 92-74 at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, NC. The Blue Devils are the defending national champions and no. 8 in the current RPI. The Saints have defeated three opponents in the Top 100: Hofstra (no. 71), Albany 78-70 (no. 93) and St. Bonaventure (no. 57). The victories came in succession during December in non-conference play at the Times Union Center.

The Saints have two remaining contests against Monmouth: away on January 18 and at home on February 1. Monmouth is number 24 in the current RPI. Monmouth and Siena are the only Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference teams ranked in the RPI Top 100. In all likelihood, Siena has to win the conference tournament in order to make the NCAAs.  Siena is undefeated on their home court, the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. In an omen for Siena, former coach Fran McCaffery won the MAAC Championship in his 3rd season. Current head coach, Jimmy Patsos is in his 3rd season at Siena and in a coincidence, the conference tournament is scheduled for March 3-7, also at the TUC where McCaffery won his 1st MAAC title in 2008.

Forward Brett Bisping scored 28 points in a 91-76 victory over Fairfield in their last outing. Bisping is averaging 14.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game on the season. Center Javion Ogunyemi is averaging 14.6 points with a .553 FG% and leads the team in blocks at 2.3 per game. Siena is hoping that Marquis Wright will be available for the MAAC tournament. Their next game is scheduled for Friday January 15 at Quinnipiac.
