NEW YORK CITY – New York played hosts to the Houston Rockets Thursday night. Thursday night’s contest was nationally televised and the Garden was packed to see their Knickerbockers get embarrassed yet again. The Knicks hung in there and played a good 1st quarter, but the rest of the game belonged to the Rockets. They completely dismantled the Knicks defense, and New York could not score consistently against Houston.

To explain how poor the defense was for New York, 7 players (including all 5 starters) scored in double figures. Houston put up 120 points in the Garden, and it lead them to a 120-96 win over the Knicks. James Harden led the way for Houston with 25 points and 9 assists. He got whatever he wanted on offense and the Knicks had no answer for him all night. Dwight Howard also had a solid game adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, Houston shot 53% from the field, and made 16 three pointers (44%, 16-36).

New York did not have a single starter score in double digits. They were led in scoring by Travis Wear who finished with 21 points. The Westchester Knicks call-up, Langston Galloway, had a highlight put back dunk and finished with a strong 19 point performance. It will be interesting to see if he can earn more playing time, and have a surprising impact on a terrible season thus far.

Right now, it looks as though the Knicks will have the highest chance of securing a number one pick next year. They own the league’s worst record, and look defeated out on the floor most times. Knick fans know that hope is lost for this year, but are still filling up the Garden which shows the loyalty of their fan base. The least the Knicks can do, is reward fans by playing hard and showing much more effort on the defensive end. Thier next match-up is against the Charlotte Hornets Saturday afternoon.
