To say the New York Jets had a tough season is an understatement:  they finished with a 6-10 record and missed the post-season for the second straight year.  The team suffered through an injury-plagued season, as they lost both Darelle Revis and Santonio Holmes early.  The struggles of Mark Sanchez did not help either, and his season was defined on Thanksgiving when he ran into his own lineman’s rear end.  While all of this is going on, they have Tim Tebow taking up a roster space, as he is rarely called on to the field.  Even when Sanchez was lifted from his role as starting quarterback, Rex Ryan decided to go with 3rd stringer Greg McElroy instead of Tebow.  By the time the season was over the fans had enough of the team and the head coach.

When the season ended, Rex Ryan took off for a vacation in the Bahamas.  Owner Woody Johnson did not want to have a press conference until he returned, which enraged both fans and media.  On Tuesday, Woody and Rex finally addressed the media.  Changes were made to the team but they were not the changes that fans expected.  Woody decided that he would hold on to Rex as the head coach of the team.  However the team parted ways with general manager Mike Tannenbaum, offensive coordinator Tony Sparano, and defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.  The search now begins for a GM, and Woody will have Rex be a part of the hiring process.  It sure seems as if Rex has been given more control of the Jets because Woody will not allow the new GM to fire him.

The 2012 Jets’ season has been such a disappointment.  Rex Ryan has vowed that they will be better.  He said, “The Jets are going to be a team no one wants to play.”  Only time will tell.  For now, the Jets will be watching the playoffs from home.
