The Miami Dolphins (4-6) take on the New York Jets (5-5) in a clash of AFC East opponents. The teams met earlier this season in London, where the Jets won 27-14. Afterwards and during their bye week, the Dolphins terminated head coach, Joe Philbin. Philbin was replaced by tight ends coach, Dan Campbell. Campbell is a former NY Giants TE and is currently 3-3 in an interim role. Miami enters the contest 0-3 in the division, while the Jets are 1-2, the lone victory over the Dolphins.
New York is on a three-game losing streak and shows zero semblance to the team that started the season 4-1. Their problems are on both sides of the ball. The Jets offense is unable to stretch the field due to a lack of speedsters at RB and WR. Defensively, they are incapable of setting the edge or making plays in space, a need that will have to be addressed in the offseason. Injuries have depleted the depth of an aging veteran roster. CB Darrelle Revis will miss the game as part of the concussion protocol.
In the old faces in new places category, Miami Vice President Mike Tannenbaum was GM of the Jets when OLB/DE Quinton Coples was drafted during the first round of the 2012 draft. Coples was waived by the Jets after their loss to the Texans and picked up by the Dolphins.
The Jets opened at -3 and are currently -4 according to the odds makers.
In an odd scheduling quirk, the Jets and Giants are both scheduled for 1 p.m. (EST) kickoffs. The game will be broadcast by CBS from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
