NY Liberty 76 vs. Atlanta Dream 61

Dreams

Imagine working toward a goal for most of your life. Imagine coming extremely close to this goal then in the blink of an eye have it taken away from you. Lindsay Allen had these two moments but didn’t let it stop her determination.

Lindsay Allen was cut from the Liberty roster at the conclusion of training camp. Coach Bill Laimbeer stated that it was a very difficult decision and he told Lindsay she is a WNBA player and she would get her opportunity and she got it.

Confidence is a word often used in professional sports. Confident players usually play well and well under pressure. Lindsay Allen gets her confidence from her teammates.

“Lindsay Allen definitely came in and gave us a boost..You want to seize the moment ”- Tina Charles

When the best player and the team leader says those words about you in only your 3rd professional game confidence is sure to be the result. Allen remains humble and still notes that she has a lot to learn at the professional level and maintains that she will work hard to improve her game even more.

With the support of her teammates she knows that she will be able to get better on the court. She is a team player and wants to play her part for the Liberty, which helps in her development as a WNBA player. Veteran guard Shavonte Zellous stated that she and her Liberty teammates are looking forward to Lindsay’s development.

“We have confidence in everybody, she’s on the floor for a reason because we have confidence in her.”- Shavonte Zellous

“She was fantastic.” Rebecca Allen

In the fourth quarter Lindsay had some big moments for the Liberty. The team was trying to hold off a furious comeback attempt by the Dream. Shots weren’t falling like they were in the first half. With 6:04 remaining Lindsay gets opportunity number one when she scored on a driving layup from an assist from Tina Charles. Opportunity number 2 came a short time later; with 5:36 on the clock she hit a jump shot to stop the Atlanta momentum then with 2:10 left in the game Lindsay came up with a great steal with the Liberty up 68-59.

Now let’s imagine again. Imagine having your dream momentarily taken away from you and now imagine getting a second chance would you be ready? Lindsay Allen was ready.
