NY, NY:  After a 2-1 road trip, the New York Knicks returned to Madison Square Garden to take on the Indiana Pacers during a Sunday matinee.  The Knicks had just come out of their first loss of the season against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.  The Pacers were coming into the game with a record of 4-6. They would be without Danny Granger, who was suffering from a sore left knee.

The first half was all Knicks. The scoring was led by Carmelo Anthony who shot 6-15 from the field and scored 16 points. Raymond Felton continued his hot play and was 2nd on the team with 9 points. Jason Kidd was hit in the head in the first quarter and headed to the locker room for stitches. On the other side of the court, the Pacers were led by Paul George, who scored 10 points. At the half the Knicks led the Pacers 41-30.

In the second half, the Pacers tried to cut the deficit, but the Knicks defense continued to hold them down.  Although the offense was not there today, the Knicks still were able to pull out the victory. “Today is one of those days where we had to do it on the defensive end. Offensively we were trying to find it, shots that we miss that we normally make. But on the defensive end, for us to be in sync the way we are right now – especially this early into the season – that’s a good thing we have to keep building on,” said Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo Anthony’s leadership continues to grow. He led the team with 26 points and 9 rebounds. The final score of the game was 88-76. The Knicks improved their record to 7-1. They are 4-0 at home this season.

After the game Mike Woodson talked about continuing their winning ways at home. “We have to win at home, teams can go somewhere else looking for a win, not here.” Since Mike Woodson has become head coach of the Knicks, they are 15-1 in the regular season at Madison Square Garden. Next up for the Knicks is the New Orleans Hornets. This starts the beginning of a three-game road trip. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
