Legendary future hall of famer Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins made history as
the oldest fighter to win a world title at the age of 48.

Legendary because Bernards career spans 25 years, 8 U.S presidential terms and
12 Olympic Games. He is the longest reigning middleweight champion ever with 20
successful title defenses over the course of his 10 year reign

On Saturday March 9 Brooklyn’s Barclay Center hosted their third boxing event
since it’s opening. Bernard Hopkins fought the undefeated (until yesterday)
Tavoris “The Cloud” Thunder in a 12 round match for Clouds IBF Light Heavyweight
World Championship.

“B-hop” as Hopkins is affectionately known won in a unanimous decision and
effectively put Don King into retirement from boxing. Hopkins said he fought
many horses in Don King’s stable and this was his last horse. Hopkins whose
dislike for Don King is known was happy to hammer in the last nail to seal the
coffin on Don King Productions.

The co-main event was a 12 round fight between top rated undefeated contender
Keith Thurman and Former World Champion Jan Zaveck for Zaveck’s WBO
Inter-Continental Welterweight Championship. Thurman proved victorious.
The World Championship fight was broadcasted live on HBO. and the event was
promoted by De la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions in association with Don King
Productions.
