New York- The Knicks and Carmelo Anthony have agreed on a five year 124 million dollar deal. After a couple of months and numerous reports around the league (Melo) is back at MSG. I commend Melo for returning to the Knciks it shows character. His will to bring a championship to New York is apparent with the decision to return to the MSG.

Anthony, a Brooklyn product, had five contract offers from which to choose, including the five-year, $129 million max. But indications are he will accept less than the maximum, in excess of $121 million, as Jackson has encouraged. The Post first reported last week Anthony may take less than the max offered to give the Knicks flexibility in 2015 and 2016 free agency.

Anthony joined the Knicks via trade in February 2011 and helped the team to three playoff appearances. The team reached fail to escape the first round of the playoffs in 2011 and 2012 but advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2013 after winning 54 games during the regular season. Anthony averaged 28.7 points per game during the 2013-2013 season to win his first career scoring title. With the Knicks struggling through a 37-45 and missed the playoffs, Jackson took over the Knicks’ front office in March. ort
