Giants seek tenth win as playoff push continues

The Giants’ need to keep winning continues as the Detroit Lions come in to town for big blue’s final home game of the season.  Below are a couple of keys for the Giants to come out on top.

Eli Manning needs to play at a higher level:

Manning has thrown for under 200 yards in three straight games and has struggled to consistently find his rhythm.  Now part of his inconsistency may be due to the offensive lines’ struggles and the complete lack of a running game to balance the passing attack but one cannot deny that there has been a drop off in the level of his play over the last few games.  He is coming off his worst game of the season in which he lost two fumbles and threw an interception.  If the Giants are going to make a run to the playoffs and beyond he will need to step up his level of play to give the Giants struggling offense a fighting chance to win.

Put pressure on Matthew Stafford all day long :

Despite the absence of Jason Pierre-Paul, the Giants defense stepped up big and put pressure on Dak Prescott throughout the Giants victory over the Cowboys.  Defensive end Romeo Okwara had a career game playing in Pierre-Paul’s place.   He had 8 tackles, 1 sack, 1.5 tackles for a loss and 3 quarterback hits.  The defense secured the win over the Cowboys and they will need to replicate that kind of performance to have a chance at defeating the Lions.  Fortunately for the Giants, Stafford is coming in to the game with an injured throwing hand that may limit his productivity.   If the Giants can match their performance from last week they should have a very good chance at notching another win and keeping pace in the wildcard playoff race.

Prediction:  Giants win 24-17
