The Mets and Braves were in action Thursday night at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia. On the mound for the Mets was Jenrry Mejia. Opposing him for the Braves was David Hale.

Top of the 1st, Eric Young Jr. continues his hot streak by leading off the game with a single to center field. Up next was Daniel Murphy. During Murphy’s at-bat, Young Jr. takes off to steal second base, Braves catcher Ryan Doumit attempts to throw him out but the ball sails into center field and Young Jr. takes third base. Daniel Murphy then grounds out to first, Young Jr. scores. Mets take an early 1-0  lead.

Moving on to the bottom of the second, Jenrry Mejia would give up a lead off home run to Justin Upton to right field. Game tied at 1. Mejia would then walk Dan Uggla and throw a wild pitch to Ryan Doumit, before settling down and getting out of the inning on 3 ground balls by Doumit, Pena, and Hale.

Top of the 3rd, Eric Young Jr. leads off by getting on base with a bunt single. Daniel Murphy up next, Young Jr. steals second base yet again on Ryan Doumit. Murphy draws a walk, Young Jr. still on second. The Captain David Wright then singles to center field, Young Jr. comes around to score, Murphy to third. Mets regain the lead 2-1. Curtis Granderson is up next, he continues his tumultuous start to his Mets career by striking out swinging. Ike Davis then grounds out to the pitcher but Murphy comes in to score and Wright advances to second. Mets lead 3-1.

The Braves answer right back in the bottom of the 3rd. Jason Heyward strikes out swinging to lead off but BJ Upton follows that up with a triple to right field. It appeared to be a routine play but Granderson seemingly lost the ball in the lights and misjudged it. Freddie Freeman, a.k.a. the new Chipper Jones, follows that up with an RBI single to center field. BJ Upton scores, Braves cut the lead to 3-2. Chris Johnson is up next. Jenrry Mejia throws ANOTHER wild pitch, Freeman advances to second. Chris Johnson strikes out swinging but then Justin Upton follows up with a monstrous 477 foot 2-run home run to left field. Braves take back the lead, 4-3.

Top of the 5th, Eric Young Jr. leads off the inning with another hit, this time a triple. Daniel Murphy was up next, he single to left and drove Young Jr. in to tie the game at 4.

Top of the 7th, Luis Avilan is on in relief for the Braves. Daniel Murphy leads off with another single. David Wright then strikes out swinging, continuing his awful start to the season. Granderson up next, Murphy advances to second on a wild pitch by Avilan. Granderson then walks, Murphy still on second. Ike Davis then pops out to shortstop for the second out. Gus Schlosser in on in relief for Luis Avilan. Juan Lagares tags Schlosser up right away  with an RBI single to right, Murphy comes around to score, Granderson to second. Mets regain the lead once again, 5-4.

Carlos Torres was on in relief in the bottom of the 7th, he made light work of the Braves batters striking out BJ Upton, Freeman, and Johnson all swinging.

Top of the 8th, Ruben Tejada leads off by flying out to center. Lucas Duda pinch hits for Carlos Torres, he singles to left. Eric Young Jr. then grounds into a fielders choice to second base, Duda out at second. Daniel Murphy up at the plate, Young Jr. steals second AGAIN! Murphy goes on to smack a double to deep right center, Young Jr. comes around to score AGAIN!

Eric Young Jr. really wreaked havoc in this game. He would finish 3-5 with a triple as well as 4 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.

In the bottom of the 8th, the Mets bullpen continued their dominance of the Braves offense as Kyle Farnsworth disposed of Justin Upton, Dan Uggla, and Ryan Doumit 1-2-3 on three ground balls.

Bottom of the 9th, Mets still lead 6-4. Jose Valverde on to close out the game for the Mets with a save opportunity on the line. Valverde spared Mets fans the drama this time disposing of Pena, Gattis, and Heyward 1-2-3 with some pizzazz to end the game. Mets take the series 2 games to 1.

Valverde picked up his second save of the year. Mets improve to 4-5.

Daniel Murphy would finish 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Up next for the Mets is a 6-game west coast road trip beginning Friday night in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels. Dillon Gee on the mound for the Mets. Tyler Skaggs will be on the hill for the Angels, looking to follow up his tremendous debut with another dominant performance. Game time is 10:05 PM ET.
