Devils Comeback, and Force an Overtime Win

Devils 5   Capitals 4 /OT

The Devils traveled to Washington last night, after coming off a tough loss at home to the Ducks Friday night.

The Devils answered quickly in the first period with Marek Zidlicky scoring at 11:26 on a power play goal, making it 1-0.

The Capitals would take control of the second period, with Jason Chimera tying it at 10:07.  Mikhail Grabovski would score to make it 2-1 Capitals at 14:38.  Joel Ward would then score at 19:14 making it 3-1.

In the third period, the Devils would show life again.  Jaromir Jagr would score a power play goal at 5:28 making it 3-2. Alex Ovechkin would give the Capitals a 4-2 lead at 8:07.  Devils would continue to score even being down by two. Marek Zidlicky would get his second of the night at 9:21, bringing the Devils within one at 4-3.  Then at the 11:47 mark, Danius Zubrus would tie it at 4 sending the game into overtime.

43 seconds, was all the Devils needed. Andy Greene would get the game winner, giving the Devils the 5-4 win.

On Monday, the Devils travel to Chicago before the Christmas break to take on the Blackhawks.  Puck drops at 8 PM.

 

Notes-  Devils were 2-2 on the night for power plays.  Capitals were 0-1
