Carcillo nets rare game winner; Rangers beat Islanders 2-1

With so many players that were talked about in to this highly anticipated game at Yankee Stadium between the Rangers and Islanders, the true hero was one of the players that didn’t make the headlines. Daniel Carcillo scored the Rangers game winning goal in the third period to help the blueshirts sweep the stadium series.

Brock Nelson scored the game’s first in the second period with less than 1:30 left to play by firing the puck through the legs of Henrik Lundqvist. Benoit Pouliot tied things up seconds later with a rebound goal. Brassard and Zuccarello were given the assists on the play.

Daniel Carcillo made things happen again with a another rebound goal that would eventually be the Rangers game winner, and made them 3-0 in outdoor games.

Did You Know? : The New York Rangers are undefeated in outdoor games (3-0).
