Brooklyn Nets Selected Mason Plumlee

With the 22nd overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, The Brooklyn Nets selected Mason Plumlee out of Duke. Plumlee was a senior and is already 23 years old. He received a loud ovation from the fans at the Barclays Center, and could make an immediate impact, while learning under Brook Lopez and now Kevin Garnett.

Plumlee is 6’10” and his natural position is Power Forward. In his senior season, Plumlee averaged 17.1 points and pulled in 10 rebounds per game. Although he is big in size, he does need to add some weight to his frame so he does not get pushed around by the big men of the NBA.

Overall, I would grade this pick as a ‘B’ for the Nets. Plumlee will develop into a solid player, especially with the guidance and leadership the Nets suddenly have. The only reason I don’t grade this higher is, I would have liked to see the Nets use this years draft pick as one of the three they sent to Boston in the KG and Paul Pierce trade.
