Bargnani Back In Lineup Wednesday

Andrea Bargnani is set to return back to the lineup Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. Bargnani has not played a single game this season thus far due to injury. He also suffered setbacks during his recovery which slowed down his return to the court. Bargnani has been known to be injury prone, and has a lot to prove to the organization that they did not waste money on signing him. Last year, Bargnani only played in 42 games and averaged just 13.3 points per game. This year he is owed $12 million, from his 5 year/$50 million deal that the Knicks inherited when they traded with Toronto to acquire him.

The triangle offense has caught a lot of slack, and justly so due to it producing a 5-28 record which is the franchise’s worst start. Part of the reason for its ineffectiveness is a lack of the right personnel to run the triangle. Bargnani brings a 7 footer into the equation, with the ability to shoot the three pointer with consistency. This is vital to bringing out potential rim protectors to the perimeter, which should free up the paint for Anthony and the rest of the Knick penetrators.

Good news is that if Bargnani does turn out to be the flop that people are saying he is, he will come off the books and be an unrestricted free agent next season.
